The Columbus Chapter was established in 1963 and currently has xx active members and xx Lifetime members.
Sponsored by the Pittsburg Chapter and organized by Roberta Basnett and Audrey Bland, there were 23 charter members of the Columbus Chapter, including Valerie Bland, Odessa Smith, and Laverne Duke King.
The Northeasterners Inc., Columbus Chapter was formed to promote friendship and social exchange among the members and to encourage civic and charitable activity, locally and nationally.
We have several community leader members who have dedicated many years of service to our club. Many of the women have prominent employment positions, are members of civic organizations, and hold advanced degrees. The Columbus Chapter hosted the annual conventions in 1974 and 2015.
In the past we have supported organizations like the Isabell Ridgeway Nursing Home, The United Negro College Fund, the NAACP, Children’s Hospital Defense Fund, the Finishing Touch Program, and Columbus City Schools.
We are proud to be part of the Northeasterners, Inc. organization and of its role in our community.
